Drenched..

All day it was dry.
All. Day.

I left work at 4:15pm.
As I descended the stairs it started raining hailing.
Myself and my colleague waited for a little bit until we thought it had calmed before we left the building.
What a silly mistake.
Before we’d even gotten a metre down the road I was soaked up to my knees. The further we continued walking the more wet we got.

It was like we were walking through the flood.. Like a bubbling brook.. The sky just opened and tipped out all the water it had been holding onto for the last 4 weeks! I wasn’t impressed.. Even more so because I wasn’t wearing the correct jacket or shoes.. I was like a monsoon!
As soon as we could we ran for shelter under Waterstones before looking in to see that their roof had started leaking because of the pressure of the rain.. My heart hurt for all the books being ruined 😦
We stood there for a while, waiting and waiting for it to calm so we could get moving again.. Then we started getting cold because we were soaking wet straight through. We sucked it up and kept moving. Everything was flooded.. Couldn’t walk anywhere but had to get to the grocery store because I didn’t want to have to leave the house due to hunger over this weekend.. I kept walking..

I made it to the grocery store and lo and behold it stops raining.
The sun actually comes out as if to taunt me. I was still soaking wet and squelching when I walked into the supermarket.
When I came out it was warm and I was still wet and dripping. I got a few funny looks as if we didn’t just have a monsoon rainfall 30 minutes before 😦
I got home, put all of my clothes into the washing machine, got a shower and put my pajamas and robe on..

I was dry and I was warm. It felt good to finally be home!
I don’t mind the weather as long as I am prepared for it. I clearly wasn’t prepared.. And that was my downfall! Lol!
Oh well.. There’s always next time! 😀
