Day 271..#Get Brave..
“Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you can’t do this or that. That’s nonsense. Make up your mind, you’ll never use crutches or a stick, then have a go at everything. Go to school, join in all the games you can. Go anywhere you want to. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible.”
Douglas Bader
A lot of the time, we tell ourselves that something is too difficult.. too challenging..even impossible.
Why?
Why put that limit on yourself?
Telling yourself such things only stunts the potential that I know is inside of all of us..but because of fear..we make excuses at to why we can’t achieve what we know we can.
How we perceive ourselves dictates what we can accomplish. That’s why this quote is one of my favourites.
Before you begin to bad-mouth this person and that person because they don’t offer you the same opportunities as everybody else..or tells you that you can’t do x, y or z..take a mental inventory of your thoughts, what you say and how you act.
Mental limits are the biggest issues we face. And a great deal of the time, WE are the ones that placed the limit there in the first place.
Or maybe when you were younger..you were told you were a failure..good for nothing..and that you’d never amount to anything.
Lies.
They were bald-faced lies..but they sit in our mind and assist in how we perceive ourselves.
Take control of your own thoughts..your destiny.
Make things happen..get creative..
..Get BRAVE.
Also, mind what you say to others. Instead of ripping them down..build them up.
We can accomplish way more than we want to give ourselves credit for.
Trust me.
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
Enough said!
=)
this was or is an awesome inspiration to each of us, thank you!
I try to Get Brave everyday Terry..Just trying to encourage others to do the same!
Reblogged this on Danny Breslin and commented:
I really enjoyed reading this post written by a friend of my dog Bones. Very inspirational stuff that everyone should sit up and take notice of. I too am in awe of Douglas Bader and found encouragement from his bravery and never say die attitude.
Enjoy…
=)
I’m flattered..really!
I hope you don’t mind but I reblogged this because I was so impressed with its content and your attitude to life. Thanks so much for writing this.
Kind regards
Bones’ dad.
I don’t mind..I’m actually quite flattered..
I appreciate the gesture 🙂
Lovely to meet you by the way =)
Yeah great to meet you too. From what I can gather you’re one of Bones’ favourite bloggers – and he’s a picky little pup!
aww..I’m blushing!
this reminded me of the book i just finished reading “Into the wild” about Alex McCandles who is the bravest person i have heard of. It is also adapted to a movie.
I would love to have a read of that book..
Thank you for stopping by =)
The author is Jon Krakauer and it is a true story of Alex.
Thank you for the information..I’m definitely going to check it out 🙂
