Day 259..#The Final Journey

It’s been a long 2 weeks for me.

I’m sure you guys know about the trouble I’ve been going through with my final year university accommodation and how annoying it has been for me overall.

I have great news!

After the last visit to the residence I was expected to stay in this year, I decided that enough was enough and that I would have to find somewhere new to live if I wanted any peace of mind.

That evening, I got on the Internet and started searching. I’d been googling random things and attempting to find a habitable residence that I would be comfortable in and an advertisement popped up about house hunting on Gumtree. “There’s nothing to lose” I thought to myself and begun another search.

An hour or so into looking, I came across some places.. Clicked the link and thought these could be prospective options.

Then I stumbled across another advertisement. Clicked on that and started reading. My eyes lit up as I looked through the photographs and I started calculating if I’d be able to afford it before I’d gotten my hopes up.

I kept looking, leaving that tab open and eventually got tired before retreating to bed.

The next day, I came back down to check out the advertisement and give the agency a call. I wasn’t holding my breath because I’d dealt with “Estate Agencies” on Gumtree before that all led to a dead end.

I grabbed my phone and called the number.

No one picked up. So I called the landline.

I would say long story short – however if it was the short version, I wouldn’t have said all I just said! But let me go on!

Upon completion of the call, I’d agreed to come and see this new place I’d found for today and if I liked it would take it.

I left my house this morning at 06:45 to make my way to the train station to get my train that would leave at 08:15. I made it there and sat down.

My appointment to view this property was at 13:00 and I was due to reach my destination at 12:25. I was cutting it close!

A friend picked me up from the station when I arrived and we drove to the property where the agent was waiting.

We exchanged pleasantries and he led us inside. I saw the kitchen first. It was nice.. I could manage it and would be sharing with on other person if I liked the room.

Then he showed us the shower room which would be shared with the same person I shared the kitchen with. Then we moved to the room. It was HUGE!

There was so much light and the ceilings were beautifully high.. But it was too big.

He asked if we’d like to see the other room. I agreed.

He opened the door and it was perfect. Stunning!

It was just the right size and cosy with all the necessary fixtures.

I was sold!

I told him I’d take it.. Went back to the office and did all the paperwork. Then he dropped me back at my old place where it took me all of 20 minutes to pack my things and find that the crack in the concrete had not yet been filled and my mattress not yet changed.

I’m so happy that I have found a place to my standard that I will feel comfortable staying in.

And my other housemates are apparently really nice.. So I’ll be looking forward to meeting them also!

I’m so happy that I’ve finally got it sorted!

Peace of mind.. It’s a wonderful feeling =)

  4. I really, really, really hope there are no more posts to this saga – not because I don’t like your writing – I do! But because I hope this new place doesn’t turn out to be horrible – like you new ‘nice’ flat mate doesn’t turn out to be a heavy metal fan who is into blades or something like that! Seriously, I hope you have a great time there – when do we get to see pictures!
