Day 210..#Warning! Hydrogen Peroxide is NOT for the eyes!

Today I accidentally got Hydrogen Peroxide in my eye..

This wasn’t my clumsiness..it was just..an accident..

I woke up this morning and went about cleaning the house and everything before getting in the shower. After I got out, I grabbed my contact lenses and my sister’s contact lens solution on the window and proceeded to rinse my lens before I put it in my eye.

So I placed the lens in the palm using my finger, picked up the solution and squeezed some into my hand, rubbing the lens in the solution. I used a different finger that wasn’t wet, picked up the lens and put it on the back of my palm. I got the lens back on my finger, open my eye with my other hand and placed it on my cornea.

Before I’d blinked to get the lens in the right place, my eye started burning like crazy and my reflexes squeezed my eye shut to try and stop the burning while I was frantically trying to pry my eye open with both hands and remove the lens.

It sounded like I’d gone deaf for a few moments..I could hear my heartbeat in my ears and a recurrent ringing sound. I was trying not to panic and at the same time trying to remove the contact lens.

About 30 seconds later I managed to pry it out of my eye and was also out of breath from the (I’m assuming) pressure of it all!

I braced myself on the sink and looked in the mirror..my eye was bright red and watery. I looked at what I used to clean my lens..it looked like contact lens solution and the packaging said it was contact lens solution. That’s when I spotted Hydrogen Peroxide in the corner of the bottle..

I’m sure its not supposed to go in your eyes? But maybe I’m wrong?

My eyes stung for about 5 minutes, before I rinsed it off and put it in again..

My eye is still red..but it doesn’t hurt anymore..

Next time I’ll definitely be more careful!
