Day 161..#My Neck..

So I woke up this morning and it felt like my head was going to fall off my shoulders..

Well..not really my head as much as it was the top of my spine..

I sat up and immediately fell backwards.

Shock would be the understatement of the year!!

I started freaking out..and at the exact same time my mum called..

Now..I’m going to tell you a little secret about my mother..

*Come Closer..*

*whispers*

If we have the slightest ache or pain..or some sort of ailment..it wouldn’t be a good idea to tell her..why you ask? Because (and I know I’m not supposed to start sentences with because..but it kind of works in this case) she will freak out.

Absolutely freak. out.

So she asked me how I was..I said fine..and we had a little conversation about mail..then I asked to speak to my dad.

As soon as he took the phone..

Daddy! My neck hurts 😦” I blurted out..

“Why does your neck hurt?” he responded..and right on cue..you heard my mother in the background “What’s wrong with her neck?!”

Lol!

He then proceeded to say that I probably slept funny..and that I’ll be fine soon (all whilst my mum kept insisting that she spoke to me again..lol)

This has been my positioning for most of the day..Image Courtesy of sciencephoto.com

As the day has been progressing..it hasn’t got much better..

I went over to a friend’s house, and we did a bit of studying..then she went to watch the Germany vs Portugal game and I came back home..

I’ve been so stiff lately..I think it’s due to over-studying and under-sleeping..but honestly..I sleep and wake up when I’m no longer tired..then study..and go to sleep at a reasonable hour (unless I don’t..lol)..but that’s the only thing I can think of..

Upon completion of my exams, I have managed to secure myself a free facial *don’t know if I told you this before*..maybe I should see if I can get a deep tissue massage with that..

I need to release some tension and relax a little..

..It’s always good to relax..

I need a spa day..

  1. I didn’t want to hit the Like button but then I got to the part about your mum on the phone and it amused me. 🙂

Listen babe, when I was doing my finals, I couldn’t sleep, I was majorly stressed out all of the time. Panic attacks and everything, so trust me, I understand that your body’s in turmoil right now. I totally get it. Take care of yourself, particularly once they’re all done. Take time to chill out, have fun and get lots of rest so you can enjoy your summer properly. 🙂

PS Hot, hot shower might help your neck. Feel better soon.

  2. Yeah, a massage! Or a warm water bottle.

  3. i hope you feel better real soon. i can see why your neck would b hurting form studying. your neck is in a down position while studying……must mean you need a big break!!!!! lol

  4. You’ve been doing a lot of studying, and bending over your computer. Take it from someone who has had disk surgery and had pain often after studying and computer time over the years…you are straining your disks in between your spinal vertebrae, and they are pushing on the nerves in your neck, may even be pinching them, and when you got up they reacted to that pinching. Heating pad, then ice pad every 20 minutes. Which ever one seems to help most repeat throughout the day when you neck fills tight. For me it is the heating pad. Next…soak in the tub, it will ease the whole spinal column. Set yourself a limit of no more than 30 to 45 minutes at a time studying or on the computer with your neck bent, then stand and stretch for about 15 minutes, neck rolls, stretch you arms and back, head and shoulder rolls. This will help relieve the pressure on your disks, spine and nerves. I got this advice (more of a chewing out) from a great doctor who deals with my fibro and arthritis. Problems like I have start when you are young. Ever wonder why Moms and Grandmas are always saying set up straight and reminding you of how important good posture is. This is why. Also don’t sleep on more than one pillow that has a good neck roll on it to support your neck when you sleep. You will see the difference.
