Day Eighty-Six..#Short Post
Today’s post is going to be very short..only for the fact that last night I burnt my hand whilst cooking and it still really hurts.
I like to cook. A lot.
I’m also quite clumsy.
I haven’t had an accident in the kitchen for a while now..I managed my clumsiness and just generally became more careful..
Yesterday, I decided to cook Triple Dipped Fried Chicken withย home-madeย salt and pepper potato wedges.
It was all going well..the chicken was cooked and I’d put the wedges in the oven after preparing them.
Ten minutes had passed and I went to go and check on them..
I couldn’t find the oven mitt so I grabbed a dish cloth, bunched it up and grabbed the corner of the oven tray..
In doing so I burnt my hand and then became so angry for doing something so silly.
I tried soothing the sensation with my aloe vera gel..however it was still very painful..that’s when I realised that I had also burnt my palm ๐ฆ
It’s not so terrible that I’ve had to go and see a doctor..and I’m worried about wrapping it with anything..so every 3o minutes, I wash my hand in cold water and reapply the gel.
It’s been helping so far..
But anyway..that’s my quick update ๐
*I used to think that kitchens were trying to kill me..but the truth is that maybe I’m just a little too clumsy..it’s a thought!*
A Clumsy Cook = The Perfect Storm.
Hope your hand feels better soon!
I will never stop cooking!
Thanks..I’m also impatient..so yeah..*sigh* ๐
lol…I’m married to a chef. My guess is that chefs/cooks are an impatient lot!
Lool..probably! I know I am in the kitchen..I always want everything to be done yesterday! Except when I am making pie ๐
I wanted to be a chef when I was growing up..but I had too many allergies! I wasn’t even allowed in food tech ๐ฆ
So I started cooking at home from about 13.. ๐
So, what you’re telling me is that your allergies are so bad that you are risking your very life to cook?..Impressive!!! Now that’s dedication!
There are a lot of substitutes available out there..
If I didn’t tell you I wasn’t using “normal” ingredients..I don’t think people would know..
Except when baking..one time I made 40 red velvet cupcakes for a friends birthday..followed the recipe to a tee and was told they tasted quite good..but I couldn’t taste it..ha ha..
My husband always tells me that, too. He’s LIED to me so many times, trying to TRICK me into putting some kind of foreign meat or weird underwater ingredient in my mouth…I’m Pallet-Challenged…Meat & Potatoes for me…
I wouldn’t call it lying..I would call it creative experimentation! ha ha! ๐
underwater ingredients I’d probably be opposed to though..lol
I’m sorry you burnt your hand. Hope it’s feeling better today.
Thanks..it hurts a little less, as I was convinced to bandage it for a little while..I put on a lot of aloe vera gel underneath before it was wrapped up..so it’s kind of soothing now..
ha,ha…you sound like him!!
OUCH! Clumsiness and cooking don’t go well together, but my wife has done fairly well in the kitchen in spite of her clumsy nature. ๐
The dish sounds delicious though…triple dipped?!? wow!
Love your closing line….very funny!
I’m fairly clumsy..and it’s not on purpose..I can’t describe it!
I’ve lived in the same house for 14 years and still hurt myself on the same corners..fall over the same things and my dad just looks at me and shakes his head..
I got my triple dipped recipe from here: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/triple-dipped-fried-chicken/
and adapted it to my taste (like added more pepper..taking out the salt..some all purpose seasoning for that extra oomph..etc)..but it’s completely awesome..try it out!
lol…well at least my wife can blame it on moving to too many diff. houses ๐
Thanks for sharing the recipe!
No problem! It’s a loooovely recipe..hot or cold.. ๐
I blame it on the fact that I’m off at school (university) for long periods of time..then when I come back home it’s like all new again! *he he*
Excuses!
