Day Fourty-Eight..#Carnival!

So..today Carnival OFFICALLY got underway in Portugal..and the next 5 days now holidays!

*I know it’s the weekend but it still counts! Don’t reign on my parade! 😛*

Now..imagine my surprise when I learnt that Portugal..a country where last year the government decided that they had too many national holidays and cut FOUR to tell us that we had 5 days off..?!

Now don’t get me wrong..I’m not complaining..its just a bit ironic

*he he*

I had classes today from 10am-12pm..I went..I came home..changed back into my PJ’s and jumped on my laptop to Skype my father at work..all of sudden I hear this cartoon-like chanting outside my window..I go and check what it is and there’s an army of tiny humans *a.k.a. children 😛* marching through the streets..saying something or other..most dressed up like little Disney characters..and other kid like things..

*Only in Portugal*

After they disappeared I sat back down.

Moments later the noise came back but it was like four times as loud!

I ran back to my window..there were MASSES UPON MASSES of crowds dressed like giant bumblebees..pirates..witches..fairies..it was crazy..blowing whistles..screaming..chanting..

Only after 22 minutes had the last of the crowd passed my window..

Now you’re probably wondering..it’s the first night of carnival..why aren’t you out there dancing??

Because here..Carnival seems more like Halloween..and Halloween freaks me out..so I decided it would be safer for me to just stay home and wash my hair 😀

Safe enough right??
