Day Fourty-Seven..#Pay It Forward
First and Foremost..if you haven’t watched this movie; I suggest you do.
It is awesome.
So on Monday, I headed off to University.
Classes started at 8am and still hadn’t sorted out my Metro Card and was already running a little bit late..so instead I ended up just grabbing a one day bus and metro pass for €5 and ran to get my train.
I got to school with 5 minutes to spare and sat down for my 1st class of the 2nd semester..not really concentrating as it was still 8 o’clock in the morning.
The first chance I got..I walked from my University to another metro station where I was told that I’d be able to sort out my card..I got there and sure enough, I was able to sort it out and renewed my card.
I walked away from the booth relieved and I saw a guy approaching the machines to get a ticket.
I don’t even know what I was doing..but all of a sudden..my legs were walking towards him.
I stopped.
“Hey.”
I said.
“One second”
He looked at me real weird like..”what?”
“Hold on”
I replied..rummaging through my purse..
I pulled out my green Viva Card that I bought this morning..
“Do you need a ticket?”
“Just for a single journey on the train..” he trailed off
I looked at him smiling and handed him my Viva Card..
He still looked extremely confused..
“I bought it this morning..but I don’t need it any more because I fixed my card..so if you want it it’s all yours..you can use it on the bus and the metro for the whole day.”
“Thanks..”
He said..still visibly confused at the exchange that had just taken place..
I smiled at him and walked away.
“I just paid it forward” I thought to myself as I walked away..
The funniest thing was..I didn’t even have the intention of doing that..it just..happened.
The whole idea of “Paying It Forward” is to do something selflessly for someone *preferably that you don’t know* without expecting anything in return..*that’s the idea behind the movie as well..really..watch it* then that person pays something forward, etc, and it just goes on..and from the time I watched the movie about a year or so ago at Church..I made a point that I want to “Pay It Forward“..but it just never happened. I always ended up thinking about it too much..and not doing anything.
This just
Happened..
It was awesome..
Check out the  movie if you haven’t..
I know I said that already..
But it’s real good 🙂
x
I haven’t seen the film but it is true that, like a pebble landing in a pond, the ripple effect from one random act of kindness can touch so many lives.
I agree 🙂
Even if we can’t see it when it happens..I’m pretty sure it does 🙂
Loved this movie. I payed it forward on Valentine’s day. So uplifting:-)
That’s awesome 🙂
